What is a Mahadasha?
Vimshottari Dasha divides life into planetary periods totalling 120 years. Each Mahadasha (major period) is ruled by one planet and sets the background themes of those years; each Antardasha (sub-period) within it brings another planet's themes forward. Your starting point depends on the Moon's nakshatra at birth.
How it works
Every tool uses the same chart and the same classical rules as your full Kundli report, so the results always agree with your reading.
Frequently asked questions
How long is each Mahadasha?
Sun 6 years, Moon 10, Mars 7, Rahu 18, Jupiter 16, Saturn 19, Mercury 17, Ketu 7 and Venus 20, 120 years in all.
Does the birth time matter?
Slightly: the dasha starts from the Moon's exact position, which moves about half a degree an hour.
