Gaumukh, also known as Gomukh, is a sacred Hindu pilgrimage site and the source of the Bhagirathi River, one of the primary headstreams of the Ganga River. It is situated at an altitude of 13,200 feet in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. The name 'Gaumukh' literally means 'Mouth of a Cow' due to the glacier's resemblance to a cow's mouth. It is the terminus of the Gangotri Glacier and a significant trekking destination.
