The Govardhan Puja or Annakut is an important Hindu festival that is held the day following Diwali. It celebrates the great miraculous act of Lord Krishna of moving the Govardhan Hill up to cover the people of Vrindavan to protect them during the rains, which was destructive and hence his protective nature. It includes making a symbolic Mount Govardhan by using cow dung, flowering, and other materials, praying, singing devotional songs and then a massive feast of 56 different types of foods called Chhappan Bhog.
