Deotsidh, Chakmoh Village
Baba Balak Nath Jayanti is an important festival in celebration of Baba Balak Nath, a holy Hindu god who is venerated in the north Indian states of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and other states near it. It is held in the Deotsidh temple which is in a natural cave which lies on top of the hill in the village of Chakmoh. Believers come to get blessings and pray including the traditional offerings such as roti, which is a flour-based cake, sugar/jaggery, and ghee. There are a number of cultural and religious practices involved in the celebration including fairs and festivals, including the Chaitra Mela, in March/April.
