Panchang
Today is Amavasya of Krishna Paksha in Kartika month, with the Moon in Chitra Nakshatra. It is observed as Govardhan Puja and Kartika Amavasya. Rahu Kaal: 11:46 am–1:12 pm. The answers below are calculated for Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh and refresh every day.
On Wednesday, 18 October 2028, the tithi in Ayodhya is Amavasya, from 12:06 pm (prev day) to 08:27 am, followed by Pratipada, from 08:27 am to 05:01 am (next day). It falls in Krishna Paksha of Ashwin (Amanta) / Kartika (Purnimanta).
The Moon is in Chitra, from 08:16 pm (prev day) to 05:28 pm, then Swati, from 05:28 pm to 02:58 pm (next day) on Wednesday, 18 October 2028 in Ayodhya. The Moon is in Virgo and the Sun in Libra.
Rahu Kaal in Ayodhya today (Wednesday) runs from 11:46 am to 01:12 pm. It is a period of about 90 minutes that is traditionally avoided for starting new ventures; its timing depends on the weekday and on local sunrise and sunset, so it differs from city to city.
In Ayodhya on Wednesday, 18 October 2028, sunrise is at 06:02 am and sunset at 05:30 pm; moonrise is at 06:02 am. The Hindu day runs from sunrise to the next sunrise.
There is no Abhijit Muhurat today (Wednesday). Traditionally it is not observed on Wednesdays.
Auspicious daytime choghadiya today: Labh 06:02 am–07:28 am; Amrit 07:28 am–08:54 am; Shubh 10:20 am–11:46 am; Labh 04:04 pm–05:30 pm. Choghadiya divides the day and the night into eight parts each; Amrit, Shubh and Labh are the auspicious ones.
The Panchang is computed for the exact coordinates of Ayodhya (26.79°N, 82.20°E) from the real positions of the Sun and Moon. Tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana are shown with their start and end times, in Ayodhya's local time.
“Panchang” means “five limbs”: tithi (lunar day), vaar (weekday), nakshatra (the lunar mansion the Moon occupies), yoga (a Sun–Moon angular combination) and karana (half of a tithi). Together with Rahu Kaal, Abhijit Muhurat and choghadiya, they are used to choose favourable times for prayers, travel and new beginnings.
