What is numerology?
Numerology assigns meaning to numbers derived from your date of birth and name. Your Moolank (Psychic number) comes from the day of the month you were born; your Bhagyank (Destiny number) from your full date of birth; and your Name number from the letters of your name.
This calculator uses the Chaldean system, in which letters carry values from 1 to 8 (the number 9 is not assigned to a letter), and shows the letter-by-letter working so you can verify every step.
How the numbers are worked out
Digits are added and reduced to a single digit, keeping master numbers such as 11 and 22 where the tradition does. Name number, Soul Urge (from the vowels) and Personality (from the consonants) are all shown with their working.
Frequently asked questions
What is Moolank and how is it calculated?
Moolank (also called the Psychic number) is your birth day of the month reduced to a single digit, for example, born on the 28th: 2 + 8 = 10, 1 + 0 = 1.
What is Bhagyank?
Bhagyank (Destiny number) is found by adding all the digits of your full date of birth and reducing to a single digit, keeping master numbers where applicable.
What is the Chaldean system?
An older letter-value scheme that gives letters values 1 to 8 and leaves 9 unassigned. It differs from the Pythagorean method.
Is numerology the same as Vedic astrology?
No. It is a separate tradition based on numbers rather than planetary positions. Tirth offers both so you can explore each.
