Roopkund Lake, also known as the Mystery Lake or Skeleton Lake, is a high-altitude glacier-fed lake in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, India. Situated at an altitude of 16,470 feet (5,020 meters) in the Trishul massif of the Gharwal Himalayas, it is part of the Nanda Devi National Park. The lake is renowned for its hundreds of human skeletons found at its edge, which are visible when the snow melts. It is a popular trekking destination and a significant site for Hindu pilgrims, especially during the Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra.
