Hora · planetary hours
A Hora is a planetary hour. The day (sunrise to sunset) and the night (sunset to the next sunrise) are each divided into 12 equal Horas, and each Hora is ruled by one of the seven planets.
The first Hora after sunrise belongs to the lord of the weekday, the Sun on Sunday, the Moon on Monday, and so on. Each following Hora goes to the next planet in the order Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon.
Traditionally the Jupiter, Venus, Mercury and Moon Horas are preferred for auspicious beginnings; Saturn and Mars Horas are avoided for new ventures.
